WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC SUITABLE FOR?
Chiropractic treatment is suitable for everyone, including newborn babies, children, the elderly, pregnant women and sports enthusiasts. Once you are better, the doctor will help you to maintain your own health, and keep your body working as it should, by offering exercise and lifestyle advice for you to follow in the future.
Patient History
You will be asked to complete a few forms so that you can accurately share with the doctor your current state of health. We will also ask to copy your insurance card and Driver's License to prevent Identity Theft. We are here to protect you.
Doctors Consultation
The doctor will consult with you to further evaluate your health and determine which types of evaluation and examination procedures will benefit your specific needs. Your first consultation begins by taking a full case history. Then you will be given standard orthopedic and neurological tests and the movement of your spine and joints will be checked.
If X-rays are necessary to assist the diagnosis, you will be referred out for xrays.
If the doctor identifies an underlying condition for which other treatment is appropriate, you will be referred to your GP or another specialist without delay. Chiropractic can, however, be very helpful in providing additional relief even for conditions such as these.
THE CHIROPRACTIC EXAM
The doctor will examine your spine and your nervous system through state-of-the-art examination procedures. A thorough chiropractic exam includes general tests such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and reflexes, as well as specific orthopedic and neurological tests to assess:
- Range of motion of the affected part
- Muscle tone
- Muscle strength
- Neurological integrity
Further chiropractic exam tests may be necessary to assess the affected area (such as having the individual move in a specific manner, posture analysis, or chiropractic adjustment of the affected body part.
Report of Findings
After a thorough analysis of your history and examinations, the doctor will report his/her findings to you, and let you know if and how he/she can help you. The doctor will be able to give you an estimate of how many visits it will take to treat your musculo-skeletal condition and what each treatment will involve.
Insurance and Payment Choices
We never turn anyone away because of his or her financial ability to pay. We accept all HMO's and other plans that provide chiropractic coverage. We also accept cash, checks and credit cards, and offer pay-as-you-go billing or longer term billing for corrective procedures.
THE CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT
Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment at the conclusion of the appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any concerns you have about the style of adjustment you will be most comfortable with.
Wellness Program
Prior to leaving, patients will be instructed on a wellness program to be conducted at home. If you are in pain when you first come in to our office this may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire an overall wellness lifestyle, our wellness team will work with you to create good habits and routines that support your success. Every body is unique and different and therefore everyone requires a unique and customized wellness plan. The foundation of our overall wellness lifestyle is maintaining healthy posture and good spinal alignment, eating a healthy diet, taking supplements, keeping your weight under control and stress relief.
